Wild Steamy Hook Up

He’s the quiet brooding guy who’s owned my heart since I was sixteen but has refused to claim it.
I’m the naïve woman who believes that someday our time will come.
I just didn’t realize that someday would include waking up in Vegas with a raging hangover and a ring on my finger.
If we believed in fate, maybe one of us would’ve trusted that something more powerful than ourselves interceded because our love is one of tangled vines. As twisted and frayed as they’ve become over the years, they’ve never broken.
An annulment seemed like the easy way out. We should’ve known it wouldn’t be fate that intervened, but our Italian Mamas. They can deliver Oscar-worthy performances when heaping on the guilt.

My thoughts: I was excited to get Dom’s book. His story wasn’t what I was expecting but it answered who he was seeing in Carm’s book. This wasn’t just a second chance romance, it was one that had a long history between the characters and their families. Enjoyable story and the writing I’ve come to love from Piper Rayne.

Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two USA Today Bestselling authors for the price of one. Our goal is to bring you romance stories that have "Heartwarming Humor With a Side of Sizzle" (okay...you caught us, that's our tagline). A little about us... We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.

My thoughts: I adore this book. Jace was a hero we haven’t read before. Angie had a unique story as well, but not as unique as Jace. This book was one that I read pretty quickly because I got into it. Definitely recommend this book.
Blog Tour.jpg Excerpt:
JJudging by the way Angie was talking to Elijah, smiling sweetly and toying with the end of her ponytail, she was definitely “vibing,” as Chloe put it. An ugly, foreign feeling surged up inside Jace that made him feel the exact same way as when he’d watched his brother flirting with her.
Turn around and walk away. It’s none of your damn business.
But before Jace fully thought through the consequences of his actions, he was crossing the road with Truffle leading the way. As soon as the little white dog caught sight of Angie, his tail started going a million miles a minute.
Stop. You’re not going to get involved. Don’t be a hypocrite. Other people in this town meddle and you hate it.
It was true. He came from a family of meddlers, and it drove him nuts. But maybe there was some meddling-specific chromosome that had been passed on from his parents without his knowledge, remaining dormant all this time and waiting for the right moment to strike.
“Jace.” Angie looked at him with wide eyes, almost like she was a kid with her hand stuck in the cookie jar.
“I was taking Truffle for a walk.” He raked a hand through his hair like he was totally relaxed and going about his day. The truth was, he had no bloody idea what he was doing. “How was yoga?”
“Awesome.” For some reason, Angie’s voice seemed an octave or two higher than normal. “Super great, actually. Excellent.”
Hmm. Three ways of saying the same thing. She did that whenever she was nervous.
“Are you into yoga?” Jace asked Elijah.
“Yeah, man. With all the firewood I have to chop for the pizza oven, my back gets real tight.”
Jace resisted the urge to roll his eyes. How did he manage to say shit like that without coming off like a total douchecanoe?
“But I could always use some tutoring.” Elijah shot Angie a flirty look, and her cheeks turned the prettiest shade of pink. “Any opportunity to expand my skills.”
“I’m sure Chloe could help with that,” Jace said stiffly.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Truffle sniffing around Elijah’s leg. He’d done the same thing to the coffee table earlier that morning—inspecting his target. Jace really should put a stop to it…
“I wasn’t talking about Chloe,” Elijah said, his eyes still trained on Angie.
Angie laughed and gingerly stuck her hand in the air. “I volunteer as tribute.”
Jace forgot the dog and stared at her hard. Was this one of those gray-area things he’d never understand, or did Angie really like this guy? He had no freaking clue.
Just then, Truffle jumped up on his hind legs, hooking his front paws around Elijah’s calf. His hips started to hinge back and forth, and Elijah glanced down, a what the hell do I do now expression on his face as he and Angie looked down at Sir Hump-a-Lot.
“What the hell?” Elijah stumbled back, and Truffle dropped down to the ground, looking mightily miffed that his sexy times were interrupted.
“Truffle!” Angie snort-laughed. “So inappropriate.”
“It’s a dominance thing,” Jace said to Elijah. “He tends to do that whenever he thinks he can overpower someone.”
Angie shot Jace a raised brow, but she squatted to give the dog a scratch behind the ears before he could figure out exactly what she was thinking. Was the comment too much? He’d blurted it out without thinking, and Elijah seemed off his game now.

EXCERPT:
There is no way in hell she’s here.
My family isn’t that cruel. Right?
From my car, I try to gauge the number of bodies in my parents’ house through the windows. Ugh, I can’t see shit.
She can’t possibly be at family dinner. My family loves Harper, but they wouldn’t invite her, not after I called my mom the other day, telling her to put her matchmaking skills to rest. She just chuckled but reassured me she knew what she was doing. Whatever the hell that means.
I was very adamant about leaving Harper alone. The Knightlys can be too much at times, and I’m sure we’re the last thing she needs right when she’s trying to settle back into town.
Resigning myself to the inevitable, I retrieve my keys from the ignition and make my way to the front door. Hand on the doorknob, I take a deep breath and walk into the house I grew up in. The warm walls and carefully hung family pictures greet me first, followed by my family’s raucous laughter emanating from the back of the house.
I remove my shoes and hang my suit jacket on the coat hanger by the front door before cautiously making my way down the long hallway to the connected kitchen and large dining room. Ren, Griffin’s girlfriend, is the first to spot me. She gives me a small smile and a little wave. The rest of the family is scattered around the kitchen as usual, getting in my parents’ way as they try to finish up the dinner prep.
Griffin sees me next. “Ah, you finally decided to join us.” He checks his watch. “I think that was eight minutes in the car. Who had eight minutes?”
Reid raises his hand and hops off the counter, grabbing a bowl from the center of the table and pocketing the wad of cash inside. “I know him too well.” Reid pats me on the back and slips me a one-dollar bill. “Here, this is for you. Thanks for taking eight minutes to prepare yourself to come in the house. Daddy is going to buy a new pair of jeans.” He pats his pockets.
Ignoring everyone and their stupid bet, I pop the fridge door open and grab a water. Reid joins me, sticking his head in the fridge so I’m forced to look at him. “Aren’t you going to ask?”
“Ask what?” I grit out.
“If she’s here. I know that’s why you were hanging out in your car, debating if you should come in or not.”
My skin prickles, and I brace myself for the answer as I shut the fridge door. “Is she here?” I hiss.
Slowly, Reid smiles and nods. “Yup, she’s in the bathroom.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I angrily squeeze my water bottle, nearly popping the top off. “Why? Why is she here?”
Reid shrugs. “I don’t know, maybe because she wants to be here.”
“Who invited her? Was it Mom?” I don’t wait for an answer. Instead, I walk over to the culprit, who’s hovering over the stove, stirring a huge pot of chili.
“Oh, hey, sweetie. Cornbread is in the oven, honey is in the crock, and I also got tortilla chips because I know how much you like crumbling them in your chili.”
“Mom, why did you invite her? I told you to leave her alone, to leave usalone.”
“What are you talking about?” My mom looks me up and down and then goes back to the chili.
“Harper. I asked you not to invite Harper.”
The bathroom door opens, and Jen pops out, rubbing her hands together. “Did he come in yet?” Her eyes light up as she spots me. “What time was it?”
“Eight minutes. Reid won.”
Disappointed, she snaps her fingers. “Damn, I for sure thought I was going to win.”
Confused, I turn back to my mom. “Harper isn’t here?”
“No, of course not. I wouldn’t invite her so early. She needs time to settle. What made you think she was here?”
I whip around to find Reid leaning against the kitchen wall, arms crossed and with a giant grin on his face. I point at him. “You better run, because I’m going to fucking kill you.”

Like a bolt of lightning, he takes off, and I chase after him, nothing but pure murder on my mind.

Death Of Darkness

Delve into the most eagerly anticipated book in New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall’s “utterly addictive” (RT Book Reviews), “fast-paced and humorous” (Publishers Weekly) Immortal Guardians series - available August 20, 2019!

Top Five Things to Know About the Immortal Guardians Series

Hello! Thank you for joining me. I’m happy to be here at Romance Reviews and More, celebrating the release of DEATH OF DARKNESS—my latest Immortal Guardians book—in ebook, audiobook, and paperback. If you like powerful preternatural heroes, strong heroines, action scenes that will keep you flipping pages well past your bedtime, and romance that is alternately steamy and sweet and laced with humor, then I think you’ll enjoy this book.

To whet your appetite for Seth and Leah’s story and to give you a glimpse of what you’ll find in my Immortal Guardians series if you’re new to it, I thought I would mention five things you should know about my Immortal Guardians.

1
Both the Immortals and the Mortals in the Series Love to Laugh and Tease.

Seth scowled and decreed sternly, “Do not read her mind, telepaths. I expressly forbid it. Zach, you and David may read Leah’s mind only in the case of a dire emergency. The rest of you may not. Do so against my wishes and you will suffer my wrath.”

Leah nodded somberly. “Seth told me that many of you view him as something of a father figure.” Leaning into his side, she gave his chest a little pat. “Trust me when I say you do NOT want to read my mind and see the kinky sh** daddy does in bed.”

Eyes widened as over a dozen mouths fell open.

Seth threw back his head and laughed as Zach burst into guffaws.

————————————
“You think I’m a geek now, don’t you?” Aidan jested.

Dana relaxed a little more. “No.”

“First I say caboose. Now this.”

She smiled. “Actually, I thought your caboose was cute.” Her eyes widened. “The caboose,” she corrected hastily. “I thought the caboose was cute. Your saying it, I mean.”

He winked. “I prefer the first one.”

She laughed. “I bet you do.”

2
You Just Never Know What They’re Going to Say.

“Wait. If you’re still you when you’re an animal, you won’t get turned on if I stroke you like this, will you? Because that would hit a little too high on my weird-o-meter.”
—Leah, DEATH OF DARKNESS

"All right. All right. Settle down. We're all glad Sarah stabbed Bastien in the ass."
—Seth, PHANTOM SHADOWS

“Well,” she complained as the silence stretched and frustration rose, “if you didn’t want me to tranq anyone, you shouldn’t have given me the damned gun.”
—Dana, BLADE OF DARKNESS

“For some reason, admitting that makes me feel like a naughty school boy caught peeking up his teacher’s skirt.”
—Bastien, PHANTOM SHADOWS

“I did NOT need to see that. I mean I REALLY did not need to see that. Jenna, honey, grab one of my daggers and poke out both my eyes.”
—Richart, NIGHT UNBOUND

3
They’re Fiercely Protective of Those They Love.
(And of Those Their Brethren Love)

“We have to protect her,” David said, “at all costs. We have to do everything we can to keep her safe. We CANNOT let history repeat itself.”
—DEATH OF DARKNESS

“I’m okay,” Aidan whispered. “We both are. I’ll never let anyone harm you, Dana. I vow it. I’d give my life to protect you.”
—BLADE OF DARKNESS
“We’ve both lost people we care about in this war with Gershom.” Chris’s shoulders rose and fell in a helpless shrug. “I don’t want to lose any more. So I took measures I thought would reduce the chances of that even though I knew it might result in you beating the sh** out of me when you found out.”
—DEATH OF DARKNESS

“No one will harm you, Heather,” Ethan vowed.  “They would have to go through me first.”
—SHADOWS STRIKE

4
The Women are as Strong and Fierce as the Men… and the Men Love It.
(Even if it scares the heck out of them sometimes)

Three mercenaries fled one hangar and scrambled into a helicopter. The blades began to rotate as the engine hummed to life.

Krysta gave Étienne a huge grin, her face lighting with excitement. “I’m doing it!” she blurted, sheathing her swords and drawing two daggers.

“What?”

“I’m taking out that helicopter!” Whooping, she dashed away.

“Wait!” He took off after Krysta.

The helicopter lifted off the ground.

Krysta picked up speed, running damned near as fast as an elder.

The helicopter began to move away, strafing the yard with machine gun fire.

Krysta veered toward a Humvee, jumped onto the hood and, without slowing, leaped into the air.

Étienne nearly dropped dead of a f**king heart attack as he watched her fly through the air and dive through a side door, tackling one of the door gunners.
—DARKNESS RISES
————————————
“Three dozen vampires and we kicked… their… asses!” Marcus swooped back toward her and, stopping mere inches away, cupped her face in his big hands. “You were amazing, Ami! Bloody amazing! I’ve never seen a Second move so fast! So fluidly!” His thumbs smoothed across her cheeks as his glowing amber gaze held hers and his blood-spattered expression softened. “Amazing,” he murmured.

Her already laboring heart stuttered when his head lowered and his warm, soft lips met hers.

5
Neither the Immortals nor the Mortals are Perfect.
(Tempers Can Flare and They Can Get Cranky Like the Rest of Us)

“I know you,” Dana said, “and can tell you’re uneasy about his coming here.”

“Only because—if he intends to try to kill me again—I’ll have to find a way to stop him without inflicting so much damage that it will piss off Seth.”

“Great,” she groused as she stomped into the bathroom with a pile of clothes tucked under one arm. “Don’t worry about the nutcase who’s trying to kill you. Worry about pissing off the great and powerful Oz.” She slammed the door behind her.

Laughing, Aidan grabbed a couple of katanas.

The bathroom door eased open enough for Dana to poke her head out. She sent him a rueful smile. “Sorry. The whole I’m not a morning person thing might have been a bit of an understatement.”

Closing the distance between them, he pressed a quick kiss to her lips. “You’ve gotten very little sleep in the past forty-eight hours. And I think you’re cute when you’re cranky.”

She laughed. “Then maybe you’re the nutcase.”
—BLADE OF DARKNESS
————————————
Tearing his gaze away, Marcus looked back at the road, then swore when a figure materialized directly in his path. The front of the heavy Hayabusa squirmed as he broke hard and swerved to avoid the man, who threw out his arm as Marcus drew even with him, plucked him from the back of the bike, spun around and slammed him back first to the pavement.

Pain crashed through Marcus, beginning in his chest, then radiating outward, so severe it temporarily deafened him… which some might view as good thing because right about now his Busa was probably smashing into a tree.

Marcus struggled to breathe, each short, choppy gasp like a knife jamming into his flesh. The momentum with which he had slammed into his attacker’s outstretched arm had broken most of his ribs.

His opponent, on the other hand, showed no sign of pain as he ripped the helmet from Marcus’s head and, eyes glowing gold, snarled, “Give me one good reason I shouldn’t kill you here and now.”

It took several long seconds for Marcus to draw in enough breath to choke out a response. At last, he managed to gasp, “Something on your mind, Seth?”

Edge of Darkness Cover Reveal

Story Synopsis

New York Times bestselling author Lara Adrian is back with Edge of Darkness, the latest sizzling, spellbinding novel in the Hunter Legacy series of vampire romances set in the darkly seductive Midnight Breed paranormal story world.
As a survivor of the horrific Hunter program, Breed vampire and former assassin Knox is a solitary man, closed off to the pain of love—and loss. A loner by choice, Knox deals in death and dark justice, expecting nothing in return. Until one snowy night he drifts into a remote town in northern Maine, where a determined beauty enlists his lethal assistance, tempting not only his hunger, but his wounded heart as well.
Lenora Calhoun has lived in tiny Parrish Falls all her life. Owner of the local diner that’s been in her family for generations, Leni’s as stalwart and stubborn as the tall pines that surround her. That unshakable resolve doesn’t sit well with everyone, least of all the most powerful family in the logging town. Leni’s been the target of their animosity for years, but with their escalating threats now putting an innocent child’s safety at risk, she takes a desperate chance on a dangerous stranger—a man who is something more than human. Knox’s deadly skills and turbulent gaze should be warning enough for Leni to guard her heart, yet she cannot deny the yearning he stirs in her blood. For the merciless Breed male is the only man she can trust in a town full of secrets, and where taking a stand could rip away everything she holds dear.
