My review: I absolutely loved this book! I don't think it could have been hotter. I got sucked into this book and ended up reading it far later than I should have. Then, the next day at work I kept thinking about it instead of the work I was supposed to be doing. I don't think I have ever had a book distract me from work. Mitch was really hot, but had some control issues that he needed to work out. Laurel was sweet and a little bit naive at times, but I found her endearing. One of my favorite things about this book is how Laurel tells Mitch that his form of punishment doesn't work for her and why, because this shows how a healthy couple can actually work through their issues with open communication. I give this book 5 stars and can't wait to read more by Lexi Blake.

Excerpt: I won’t stop this time. I won’t play the gentleman again,” he whispered before his mouth descended on hers.
Thank god. Six months. They’d passed and every night she dreamed about what they could have had if he hadn’t played the damn gentleman that night in Hawaii. They’d wasted six months. Six months when she could have felt him against her, when she could have had the heat of his body to warm her own. They could have been sleeping together, sharing a life beyond the confines of this office.
His lips found hers and he was ravenous. He slanted over her mouth again and again, dominating and taking what he wanted. His tongue surged in and she could feel that slow slide in her womb.
Just like that she was wet and ready. Her body felt malleable, as though it knew this man was the one who could mold her and bring her to fruition. Every inch of her body felt primed. Her nipples rasped against the fabric of her bra, her breasts heavy and wanting. Her clothes were suddenly too tight and she wanted nothing more than to throw them off. She didn’t need clothes around him.
A sudden vision of what it would be like now that Mitch was finally claiming her stamped itself in her brain. She could hear him commanding her to be naked when they were alone. She would curl up at his feet as they relaxed. It would be the two of them and they wouldn’t have to argue. They would be together.
His hands found her backside, squeezing. A low groan ground out of his mouth as he explored her. She could feel herself softening, offering herself up for his slow exploration. This was the man who would finally teach her what all the fuss was about.
Mitch pushed her to be better than she was, to think more clearly about points of law and to challenge herself to greater heights. She’d always known it would be the same in the bedroom. She’d had lovers before, but sex had been something to do, a way to show affection. Sex with Mitch was a force of freaking nature.
He pressed her against the door. His mouth was a marauder, plunging in and taking what he wanted. His hands gripped her hips and suddenly she felt her feet leave the ground. Mitch had a good half a foot on her, but it didn’t seem to matter. He simply lifted her to where he wanted her to be.

The Fairy Tale Bride

The Fairy Tale Bride by Scarlet Wilson was the first book in the Montana Born Brides series, and it was definitely a cute start. Lisa owns her own bridal shop and volunteers at the local hospital. It's there that she meets Dr. Adam Brody. Their relationship develops in a way that was so real. Adam messes up a few times and is suspicious of a few things Lisa says. Lisa opens up about painful things, but is called out by Adam when she says something that makes it seem like she's not over her ex. I really enjoyed how this story showed the complexity of dating someone new. Lisa and Adam made a cute couple and I was happy when they got their HEA. There was nothing that stood out in this story as spectacular, but it would make for a fun beach read. I give it 4 stars and look forward to more in this series. Note: I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

The only place she can find peace is on the pediatric ward of the local hospital where she volunteers, a place that holds more meaning to her than anyone knows. Leave it to the handsome and charming new doctor to change all of that…

Dr. Adam Brady is enjoying his new job and anonymity at Marietta’s hospital, but he hasn’t been able to focus entirely since the gorgeous business owner and hard-working volunteer piqued his interest. His Forbidden Princess

His Forbidden Princess is the fourth and final book in the Royal Holiday series, and I have to say, it ends the series with a bang. I loved Ian and Sophie together and their story is filled with uncertainty. What would you do if the girl you fell in love with, but whose heart you broke, needed your protection? Ian made sure that he was the one to protect Sophie, even if it meant risking his heart again in the process. Both characters were strong and despite all that life had thrown at them, they still loved one another. Ian was humble enough to make Sophie thing her dad asked Ian to guard her, when in reality he asked to be the one to protect her. I don't think there could have been a better ending to this series. My one note about this series that sets it apart from many others is there is no interaction between any of the characters from the other books. I feel that the only thing they have in common is the theme of one person being a royal. While this does nothing to take away from the books, it also makes it hard for me to truly view this as a series. Either way, I loved this book and give it 5 stars. Note: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

His Defiant Princess

His Defiant Princess is the third book in the Royal Holiday series and I think it was a good addition to the series. Breanna Tinsley was strong and stood by her convictions. I loved that she wouldn't represent clients that she believed were guilty, despite how much money she was offered. It showed her morals and determination to put her past behind her. Prince Ronan met Breanna 9 years ago and pretended to be someone else. He broke her heart when he left without a word in the middle of the night, so when he needs Breanna to help rebuild his brother's reputation after a few careless words, he has a fight to get her to say yes. Neither one of them looks at the business relationship as a second chance for them, but it definitely was. This story kept me interested from the beginning and I enjoyed watching the characters interact on all levels. The ending had me laughing out loud and definitely left me with a big smile on my face. I give this book 4.5 stars along with a definite reread rating. Note: I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Writing Contemporary Romance

Hello! I’m Diane Alberts, but you might also know me as Jen McLaughlin! As Diane, I write sexy contemporary romance for Entangled Publishing. My latest book, TAKING WHAT’S HIS, is the fourth book in the Shillings Agency series (all can be read as Standalones, though), and it centers around Holt Cunningham and Lydia Thomas.

Now, you see, when you write contemporary romance, a lot of things come into play. As writers, it gives us a chance to play with trends and followings. In this book, I got to include my all time favorite thing—Doctor Who.

Some of you might not know what that is—and if you, don’t, then go watch it NOW—and some of you might be silently fist pumping in your seats like I am. I have no way of knowing, but I can say this: OH MY GOD, IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.

As a writer, it can be tricky to include the perfect balance of information. I tried to put a good amount of inside jokes in the book, for those who know the show, but not so much that it would turn off people of the book! So I have a question for you:

Have you ever read a book, seen the characters talking about something—food, shows, drinks, anything!—and then said, “I need to try that!”? Let me know!!!
