The Bachelor Auction

We have your first look at THE BACHELOR AUCTION releasing on October 4 and we can guarantee, you do not want to miss the first book in this brand new series from Rachel Van Dyken!

TheBachelorAuction11_RGB300 (1)     TheBachelorAuction11_RGB300 (1)Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.   Jane isn’t entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start but didn’t she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. That is, until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes—or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire—maybe do exist. Except Brock Wellington isn’t anyone’s dream guy. A prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk—even if that is just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it’s karmic retribution that he’s tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can’t have. But while he and Jane may not get a fairy tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . . .

Thick wavy auburn hair fell in disarray over his forehead. It was lush, shiny, perfect. Were guys born with hair like that? Or was his somehow chemically engineered? His full lips pressed together in a secret smile as the equally handsome man next to him said something, then erupted in laughter. The first man stiffened, then shook his head. His broad shoulders seemed to grow tight as a drum. A slight tic in his jaw was the only clue that he was irritated or maybe outright angry. And then his shoulders slumped as he was handed another drink and then another. Nervous. He must be nervous. But what could a man like that possibly have to be nervous about? He easily towered over most of the men in attendance. Suddenly his posture changed, then he smiled. Jane felt her mouth drop open in shock. Dazzling. He was…like a duke or a lord or a prince from a storybook. Clearly, she read too many romance novels, but his entire presence demanded attention; screamed authority, importance, and sex. Lots and lots of sex. Yes, his virility was a tangible thing, as if she could reach out and grasp it with her fingertips. “What are you doing?” Esmeralda yelled in her right ear, interrupting her blatant sexual fantasy about a complete stranger. Great. That’s what her life had come to. And sadly? It was the most fun she’d had all night. Jane turned to Esmeralda, prayed for patience, and answered. “Sorry, I was just thinking.” “You’re so boring.” Esmeralda rolled her eyes. “No wonder you got dumped.” Another fun fact? Esmeralda was mean when she was drunk. The reminder of the breakup burned like acid. It had been a year ago, not that it mattered. It still hurt that the last guy she’d dated had told her that although she was cute, she wasn’t really doing it for him anymore. Right. Doing it. Maybe that was because she hadn’t done anything for him or with him, and he found that lacking. But they’d only dated for a few weeks. Did normal girls do that? Put out after a few weeks? Apparently. She wasn’t normal. But if that was normal, maybe she was better off being strange. “Jane, are you even listening to me?” Esmeralda whined. “Essence needs you to dance next to her for a bit. I’m tired and tipsy. I want to sit. Plus your dress blends in enough that it won’t take attention away from her.” No way. What? What had she just said? Jane wrapped her arms around her middle. “I’m sorry, what?” Without warning, Esmeralda grabbed Jane’s hand and jerked her toward the dance floor, causing Jane to lose her footing and crash directly into Esmeralda’s back. Then, like a domino, she slammed back into Essence. Jane opened her mouth to shout out an apology, but Esmeralda was already too drunk to listen to reason. With determination in her eyes, she reached for the pearls at Jane’s neck but grabbed the fabric of the dress instead. Her poorly sewn dress ripped instantly, causing the fabric to slink past her strapless bra. A diagonal slit split up her thigh almost all the way to her hip. In an effort to cover herself, she took a step and tripped, thanks to her clunky shoes. And then she fell to the floor. Hard. Her sisters watched in horror—but neither of them offered a hand. They were probably kicking themselves for forcing her to come. Esmeralda leaned over but missed Jane’s shoulder by a mile, grabbing her hair and giving it a tug, which only made Jane wince harder. Both sisters were completely tanked. And she was less than two minutes away from being trampled by the other sweaty bodies around her. She glanced up. And into the eyes of the man she’d just been lusting after. Oh God, the humiliation was complete. That one glance told her he’d seen it all. She swallowed back the thickness building in her throat. Of course the only time he’d notice her would be when she’d ripped her dress and nearly took out a few guests on her way down to the dance floor. The crowd gathered around her. And the sexy man disappeared—probably off in search of a girl with perfect hair, perfect teeth, perfect clothes. She really should have stayed home. Tears filled her eyes as a heel pressed into her right hand. With a jerk she tugged her hand free, struggling to get up to stand on her wobbly feet, when suddenly she was pulled to a standing position and then swept up in strong arms. Jane’s eyes were still so blurry from unshed tears she couldn’t make out the man’s face as he carried her out of the crowd. He smelled like heaven. She fought the insane urge to press her face against his chest and just…close her eyes. Because he felt safe. Pathetic, when a stranger’s arms provided more safety than her own family. And yet he felt…right. In a world where things for the past ten years had felt so wrong. He felt right. Maybe she’d had too much champagne.         rachelborderRachel Van Dyken is the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestselling author of regency and contemporary romances. Ruthless

 Ruthless FBbanner

Ruthless_CVF

Ruthless wasn't quite what I'd been expecting from Lexi Blake, but it was a FANTASTIC story. I've read her Masters and Mercenaries (M&M) series, so I was surprised that this story didn't have quite as much "dirty" sex. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of steamy, sexy scenes. There just wasn't any sort of BDSM element or harder core sex. This book hooked me in at the beginning and kept me turning the pages until I was done. This spin off series from the M&M series was a nice transition and I enjoyed seeing favorites from the other world pop up in this story. I give it a solid 5 stars and am looking forward to more in this series and more from Lexi Blake.

The first in a sexy contemporary romance series featuring the Lawless siblings—from New York Times bestselling author Lexi Blake.

The Lawless siblings are bound by vengeance. Riley, Drew, Brandon, and Mia believe the CEO of StratCast orchestrated their parents’ murder twenty years ago to steal their father’s software program. And there’s only one way Riley can find some solid evidence...

Heir to the StratCast legacy, Ellie Stratton hires a new attorney to handle a delicate business matter—and she’s shocked by her attraction to him. Over the course of a few weeks, Riley becomes her lover, her friend, her everything. But when her life is threatened, Ellie discovers that Riley is more obsessed with settling an old score than in the love she thought they were building. And Riley must choose between a revenge he’s prepared for all his life and the woman he’s sure he can’t live without...

Blake Ruthless teaser 1
“Why did you do that?” It was the first time she’d spoken without being prompted. “Do what?” Her face flushed the sweetest pink. The color went all the way down that sexy V-neck. Her breasts flushed as well as her face, and it made his damn dick tighten. “Kiss me. Why did you kiss me like that?” Oh, so many reasons, but he gave her the most compelling one. “I wanted to.” The minute she’d opened the door and he’d seen her standing there looking anxious, he’d known how to calm her down. All he’d had to do was put his hands on her and some odd connection flared between the two of them. She hadn’t fought him. He could have gone on kissing her. He’d been the one to pull away. It was like the minute he walked in, he was the only thing that existed for her. It made him feel ten feet tall, but it also made him want to please her. It was an unsettling sensation. Her hands came up, fingers on the sides of the table. “You know what I’m asking. You knew I wasn’t alone. Why did you pretend to be my boyfriend?” It was easy to see she’d wanted him to wait for her at the restaurant so as to avoid him meeting her sister and ex. When she’d opened the door, he’d immediately known something was wrong. He’d gotten a glimpse of her sister and known Ellie had likely needed a hand. It had to be tough on a woman’s ego to lose even a pathetic excuse of a husband to a younger sister. “You were alone with your sister who slept with your husband. Excuse me. Ex-husband.” She shook her head. “At the time, we were definitely married. How did you know he was my ex-husband?” “He took half your net wealth. I’m your lawyer. At this level, a good lawyer is less legal counsel and more war consultant. I can’t properly perform my duties if I don’t know everything about you, including the fact that you tend to have terrible taste in men.” She frowned. “I haven’t had a ton of boyfriends. I’m not sure what my taste is.” He really wanted to understand why she’d married that obvious prick. “What attracted you to him? Because from where I was standing, he looked like a dickwad desperate to be twenty-one again.” She bit into her bottom lip, her eyes glancing away from him. “He wasn’t always like that. I actually met him when he was twenty-one. He was far more mature then.” He liked her candor. “You were in college?” “Last year of undergrad. We dated for two years and then it seemed like it was time to get married. We’d moved back here to Manhattan so I could take my place at StratCast. I thought he was going to go to grad school, but he decided on a different path.” “What path was that?” A single brow rose over her right eye. “You don’t know?” Of course he knew. He knew everything. “Are you referring to your ex-husband’s penchant for swinging for the fences? When it comes to investments, that is.” It was what he liked to call “idiots who funded ridiculous ideas.” They never wanted a simple profit out of their money. They wanted millions and really fucking fast. They swung for the grand slam when all they needed to do was get on base. It took a true genius to take a single idea and make millions off it. Drew had. Her shoulders straightened. “He wanted the easy solution. A get-rich-quick scheme. He wasn’t that way at first. At one point he was very intellectual. It’s what attracted me to him. He was curious about the world and liked to discuss everything from politics to social jus- tice to movies we saw. He changed. I didn’t. In some ways, I blame getting involved with me for what happened to him. He got around my father and real wealth and wanted some of his own. When I met him, he wanted to be a professor. He wanted to teach.” At least he’d gotten her this far. She was talking. Now he needed to get those shoulders down from around her earlobes. For one moment, for that moment when he’d drawn her into his arms and pressed his mouth to hers, she’d relaxed against him, given over to him. Her body had softened and she’d leaned into him, and if he’d pressed her, he didn’t know what would have happened. She might have continued kissing him, forgetting all about the other people in the room. He could have cupped her breast, her ass. Put his hands anywhere he liked. She hadn’t given a damn that they hadn’t been alone. All she’d cared about was him.

Hitched 3

FB Banner for Series    Book 2 of Hitched left me in a place where I wanted to throw my kindle because I was rooting for Noah and Olivia. Noah had to go and screw up at the end and I was dying to find out how he was going to fix it. Well, I think he really came through. As a general rule, I don't like books that are serials, but I enjoyed the Hitched series. The final book wrapped everything up and I give it a solid 4.5 stars.

Hitched 3I’ve ruined everything.

I’ve broken the cardinal rule and fallen in love with my fake wife, and then I went and did the worst thing a husband can do.

Winning her back will be nearly impossible, but I’ve never backed down from a challenge before and I’m sure as hell not about to start now. Olivia will be mine, and I can’t wait to put a bun in her oven.

You won’t want to miss the final installment in Noah and Olivia’s love story, and especially the way this over-the-top alpha male wins over his bride once and for all.

This is the third and final volume in the story.
